Flute & Piano Duo
Cheryl Alex is featured on flute & vocals, and Susy Wolfson on piano (or keyboard) and vocals. This extremely versatile duo performs familiar classical melodies, jazz standards, pop tunes, ethnic music and a variety of flute and piano works, ranging from elegant Bach sonatas to lush French Romantic and Impressionistic songs. In addition, since the pianist is also a singer, vocals can be added at the client's discretion. Their music creates a warm and stylish atmosphere for wedding ceremonies, corporate events and private engagements. For wedding receptions and open air events, Syrinx moves to a livelier style which includes waltzes, swing tunes and Celtic reels as well as ethnic tunes and requests. They are equally comfortable performing jazz standards or light rock tunes.

Cheryl Alex brings
a unique flair and style to the flute. She combines a hauntingly beautiful
sound with a flair for the diverse styles of jazz and classical music.
Cheryl, a well-known name in the Portland jazz scene and winner of KMHD’s
“Best New Talent” award, was also recipient of Berklee College
of Jazz scholarship and Jazz Society of Oregon’s Jack Rosenberg
Memorial Award. Cheryl maintains a very active teaching career, as well
as performing professionally for over 20 years. She has recorded an performed
with Jerry Hahn, Nancy King, Steve Christofferson, Glen Moore, Lawrence
Williams and Sonny King.
